Planning Ahead

I have not watched the show on organizing that’s on Netflix that everybody is raving about and yet I sure seem to want to get organized. This is a new endeavor for me! I’ve never really used a planner but I bought one a few months ago thinking it would be nice to have someplace to keep track of all that’s going on, or not going on, in our lives. I didn’t really like the one I bought so I did some searching on Pinterest and found these printable planner pages. I’m only a month late in printing it off and using it but that’s par for the course with me! I think I’m going to enjoy using it. I like the idea of using a binder so the pages will lie flat, I can flip back and forth easily and take pages out as needed. I’m wanting to keep track of different things and keeping it all together just might help me be more diligent on writing it all down. My memory just isn’t what it used to be and writing things down just seems to make sense to me now! (printables came from brandyshappyhome.com)

RIP Snowball

Drew got a hamster back in December. Something I swore I would never have! And darn if she wasn’t fun to have around. She was extremely active, spent her time filling her pouch with food, running on her wheel, chewing on everything in sight, and biting fingers every chance she got. Of course we came home with a hamster and a cute plastic cage that looked like a house. And then Drew did a bunch of research on YouTube and discovered those cute plastic homes they sell at pet stores are really not good for your pet hamster. So he drug up an old fish tank from the basement that was home to Larry the Lizard back in the day when Eric had his lizard. We spent hours getting it all cleaned up and set up only to decide it wasn’t big enough for a hamster. I wan’t willing to spend money on a large fish tank to I went to Facebook for ideas and Jeremy’s mom offered us their 100 gallon fish tank that was home to Jeremy’s pyrannahs. I now have a gigantic fish tank in my living room, directly under the TV. Oh what moms will do for their kids! Unfortunately, as we were in the process of setting this tank up, Snowball escaped. She was missing from Saturday night until Thursday when we found her on the backporch of all places. She was hurt, her back legs weren’t working. We put her back in her cage but she passed the next day. Drew was heartbroken. I never dreamed he would become so attached to a little critter that he couldn’t even pick up for fear of getting bit in such a short amount of time but he cried and cried. Then he asked if we could go get another one. And we did. We are now the proud owners of a Black Bear Syrian Hamster named Boo Boo Bear!

Plodding Away

I’m plodding away on my pattern organization. I would like to be back in the front porch sorting through more stuff but today is an office day for Joe and since the front porch also serves as his office, I can’t be in there making a racket. That little teeny room serves as Joe’s office, my office, my craft room and storage so it really really needs to be organized. I am making headway which is great. After going through and pulling every pattern out of it’s plastic baggy it came in, unfolding it and stacking it along with all the patterns I’ve downloaded and printed off the computer I had some huge piles (and lots of duplicates) so I’ve been able to throw a lot of unneeded packaging away along with duplicates of patterns. And I’ve actually managed to make quite a dent in the stacks. Now I’m filling up binders like crazy and even though I stocked up on binders and sleeves on Friday it looks like I’m going to need more. But it feels so good to finally have my patterns organized and at my fingertips. Between that and all the thread I organized awhile back – stitching will soon be so much more enjoyable! Yeah!

Dad and Mom came over for the Super Bowl yesterday so I took a break from the front porch. We had potato soup and chili and fresh veggies to snack on during the game. And I got some stitching time in. I have an order for this sweet Christmas pillow so I worked on it. It’s hard for me to work on Christmas this time of the year so I have to make myself work on it but again, I’m plodding away! I made this into a Christmas ornament for Bayah this past year. It’s nice to work on something that isn’t prim once in awhile!
